Composed of pianist Erol Sarp and producer and electronic engineer Lukas Vogel, prepared piano innovators Grandbrothers formed in Düsseldorf in 2011 and dropped their debut EZRA EP in 2014. The Turkish-German/Swiss duo released their debut album, Dilation, in 2015, laying the blueprint for their inventive vision; a synthesis of electronica and classical piano that involves a bespoke system of electro-mechanical hammers. Released via Berlin label City Slang, the pair's second album Open followed in 2017. After taking five years off, Grandbrothers returned in 2021 with their third album All The Unknown. In addition to their work as Grandbrothers, Sarp and Vogel began forging a career in film score composition in 2019, contributing the soundtrack to the film Hors Normes by Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano, which premiered in May 2019 at the Cannes International Film Festival. They also devised the music for Bettina Oberli's drama Wanda, My Miracle.
