INI is a Japanese boy band formed in 2021 by the talent agency Lapone Entertainment. The eleven members that finally made it into the group's lineup were selected through a rigorous selection process on the second season of the reality show Produce 101 Japan. Consisting of Masaya Kimura, Hiromu Takatsuka, Shogo Tajima, Kyosuke Fujimaki, Takumi Ozaki, Hiroto Nishi, Jin Matsuda, Xu Fengfan, Rihito Ikezaki, Yudai Sano, and Takeru Goto, INI made its official debut in 2021 with the maxi-single "A," which shot straight to the top of the Oricon charts and was certified double-platinum soon after. In 2022, the group made history with the release of their second single "I," becoming the first artist in the history of the Oricon charts to surpass 500,000 copies sold in the first week for two consecutive releases. Released later that year, their third single "M" also achieved pole position in Japan and was followed closely by their first studio full-length, Awakening, which also hit number 1. 2023 saw the group release the chart-topping singles "Drop That" and "Tag Me," both certified double-platinum in Japan. Second studio album Match Up continued that trend, reaching number 1 on the Oricon charts shortly after its release in February 2024.
