Led by singer and guitarist Jasmine Cruikshank, the rock and folk band Jasmine.4.T was born in Manchester in 2019. Born in Bristol, she moved to Manchester, where she surrounded herself with three other transsexual musicians and recorded a debut EP, Worn Through, for Breakfast Records. After a tour supporting Lucy Dacus, the singer offered her a demo, which she passed on to her Boygenius collaborator Phoebe Bridgers, creator of Saddest Factory Records. As soon as they were signed, the group recorded the single "Skin on Skin" in 2024 , followed by "Elephant" and "You Are the Morning", which gave its title to the first Jasmine.4.T. album, released in January 2025.
