The J-pop boy band Kis-My-Ft2 was formed in Tokyo, Japan, in 2005. The original lineup included singers Hiromitsu Kitayama, Kento Senga, Toshiya Miyata, Wataru Yokoo, Taisuke Fujigaya, Yuta Tamamori, Takashi Nikaidō, and Kyōhei Iida, although the group slimmed down to a seven-piece lineup following Iida's departure in March 2006. Kis-My-Ft2 spent years focusing on its unique stage routine, which featured a combination of singing and rollerskating. A platinum-certified debut album, Kis-My-1st, was eventually released in 2012, peaking at Number 1 in Japan and producing a trio of chart-topping singles: "Everybody Go," "We Never Give Up!," and "She! Her! Her!" With remarkable accuracy, Kis-My-Ft2 topped the Japanese charts with more than 20 singles during the remainder of the 2010s, with songs like "Wanna Beeee!!!," "Kimi to no Kiseki," and "Thank You Jan!" all going platinum. The group's ability to top the Oricon Album Chart was equally consistent, with 2013's Good Ikuze!, 2014's Kis-My-Journey, 2015's Kis-My-World, 2016's I Scream, 2017's Music Colosseum, 2018's Yummy!!, and 2019's Free Hugs! all peaking at Number 1. Kis-My-Ft2 maintained its tradition of yearly album releases in 2020, when To-y2 also debuted at Number 1, and continued issuing new material with the two-sided single "Fear"/"So Blue" in 2021. Synopsis followed in 2024, becoming the group's tenth album to reach the top of the Japanese charts.
