Hailing from Tokyo, Sexy Zone is a wildly successful Japanese boy band featuring vocalists Kento Nakajima, Fuma Kikuchi, Shori Sato, So Matsushima, and Marius Yo. Johnny Kitagawa, the talent manager behind iconic boy bands like SMAP, assembled Sexy Zone's lineup in September 2011, while the majority of its members were still teenagers. Marius Yo, the group's youngest musician, was only 11 at the time. "Sexy Zone," the group's self-titled debut single, was released two months later and peaked at Number 1 on both the Oricon Singles Chart and the Billboard Japan Hot 100, making Sexy Zone the youngest group in Oricon history to debut at Number 1. The song was quickly certified platinum. A full-length album, One Sexy Zone, followed in November 2012 and went gold, led by the Number 1 singles "Lady Diamond" and "Sexy Summer ni Yuki ga Furu." Sexy Zone's streak of consecutive chart-topping singles continued with 2014's Sexy Second, which included Number 1 hits like "Real Sexy!" and "Bye Bye Du Bye (See You Again)," and 2015's Sexy Power3, which featured the Number 1 songs "King & Queen & Joker," "Otoko Never Give Up," and "Kimi ni Hitomebore." Welcome to Sexy Zone and Sexy Zone 5th Anniversary Best were both released in 2016, followed by 2018's XYZ=Repainting, 2019's Pages, and 2020's Pop × Step!?. By the time Sexy Zone's second compilation album, SZ10th, appeared in 2021, the group had sent 19 consecutive songs to the top of the Japanese charts. Several of those chart-toppers appeared on SZ10th, as did the English-language track "Right Next To You," marking one of Sexy Zone's first singles performed in a foreign tongue. The Highlight followed in 2022, reaching Number 1 and sending two additional singles to the top of the charts, followed by yet another chart-topping record, Chapter II, in 2023. An EP, Timelesz, was released in 2024 and became the band's twelfth record to reach Number 1 in Japan, where the songs "Honne to Tatemae," "Jinsei Yūgi," and "Puzzle" all topped the charts, too.
