French rapper L'Allemand, whose real name is Émir Chelabi, was born in 1995. He grew up in Vénissieux, in the Minguettes housing estate in the southern suburbs of Lyon. He inherited his nickname at this time, because of his blue eyes and blond hair. Early on, he began writing and even recording, and in 2015, while battling insomnia, he spent his nights searching for instrumentals on social networks. He threw himself determinedly into rap, releasing his first proper single, "Elle t'a quitté", in 2017. A stint in prison in 2018 slowed his ascent, but he took advantage of this difficult period to work on new tracks and presented his first project, called Sixnueve, in 2019, before following it up the same year with Liberta, on which he was joined by Moubarak, Rim'K and Jul. Federating a wider audience in the early 2020s, he released a 14-track project entitled Nos Rêves, then consolidated his status on the rap scene with albums On Verra Bien in 2021, with support from Mister You, Hornet la Frappe and Da Uzi, and 2 Lions in 2022, which reached number seven in the French charts.
