League of Legends is an online video game developed by Riot Games in 2006 and introduced in 2009. Like other video games, it produces derivative products such as figurines and comic books, and its soundtracks are marketed independently. After an attempt with the virtual metal band Pentakill in 2014, a first compilation was released in 2015, with the participation of Norwegian band Djerv and music still elaborated by in-house composers. In 2016, the Warsongs soundtrack opened up to artists such as Vicetone and Marshmello, while 2019 saw the release of a series of nine compilations retracing the game's musical history, from The Music of League of Legends: Season 1 to The Music of League of Legends: Season 9. The collection is expanded with the albums Echoes of Light (2021) and a first volume of the Arcane League of Legends series, featuring contributions from Bea Miller, Jazmine Sullivan, Bones, Imagine Dragons, Woodkid, Pusha T, Denzel Curry, Miyavi, Sting and Fantastic Negrito. In 2024, Arcane League of Legends: Season 2 is renewed with artists Freya Ridings, Marcus King, Ashnikko, D4vd, Zand, Stromae, Pomme, Twenty One Pilots, Stray Kids, Imagine Dragons and JID.
