Rapper and singer Emanuel Twellmann, known to the public as Manuellsen, was born on January 26, 1979 in West Berlin and is considered one of the most established artists on the rap scene in the Ruhr region. He grew up in Mülheim an der Ruhr, started rapping at the age of 15 and went on to write for other musicians. He made a name for himself in the hip-hop scene with his first underground releases and landed a hit with a feature on the song "Unexpected" by ex-No Angels singer Sandy Mölling, which climbed to number 29 in the German charts. His final breakthrough as a solo artist came with the albums Killemall (2015), Gangland (2016) and Der Löwe (2017), which landed him in the German top 10 three years in a row. The LPs were also successful in the top lists in Austria and Switzerland. In 2020, his songs "Click Click" (with Olexesh) and "Toss It" made it into the German charts. 2021 saw the release of the collabo album Ghetto with rapper Massiv and a biography about his turbulent life by Nina Damsch entitled "Manuellsen. King in the Shadows".
