Active in the Christian pop world since 1993, singer/songwriter Matt Redman is best known for the award-winning, double-platinum "10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)," which topped both the Christian Songs and Christian Airplay charts in 2012. He was born on February 14, 1974, in Watford, England, and converted to Christianity as a 10 year-old. Redman learned to play guitar during his teenage years and released his debut record, Wake Up My Soul, in 1993. That same year, he also formed a youth-oriented Christian music festival, Soul Survivor. Subsequent albums like 1997's The Friendship and the Fear and 1998's Intimacy were released not only in the UK, but in America, too, increasing Redman's reputation as an international leader of worship music. However, he didn't chart in the US until 2002, when Where Angels Fear to Tread reached Number 38 on the Top Christian Albums chart. His 2006 follow-up, Beautiful News, cracked the Top 10, while 2011's 10,000 Reasons climbed all the way to Number 1. "10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)," the album's flagship single, became one of the era's biggest Christian hits, winning two Grammy Awards, two GMA Awards, and three Dove Awards. Matt Redman maintained his chart-topping reputation for several years, returning to Number 1 with 2013's Your Grace Finds Me and 2015's Unbroken Praise: At Abbey Road Studios. Meanwhile, "10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)" became something of a perennial hit, returning to the Top 10 in 2020 and paving the way for subsequent hits like "The Same Jesus," which became a Top 40 hit later that year.
