Natsumi Hanaoka , born on June 24, 1996, in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a former Japanese singer. She studied at Actors School Hiroshima and was also a member of the idol unit SPL∞ASH based in Hiroshima. Hanaoka gained recognition by winning the music category award at the 14th National Beauty Contest in August 2014, under the name Natsumi Hanaoka . In March 2015, she graduated from her local high school and moved to Tokyo. Her debut single "Natsu no tsumi" was released on August 12, 2015, with lyrics and composition by Chihiro Onitsuka. This marked the first time Onitsuka had provided a song that she did not sing herself. Hanaoka's performance of Onitsuka's "Tsukiyumi" at the National Beauty Contest led to this collaboration. The song was featured as the theme for the Asahi Television drama "Eiji Harassment," starring Saki Tabei, who is also an alumnus of the National Beauty Contest. The song won her the New Artist Award at the 57th Japan Record Awards and the New Artist Award at the 48th Japan Cable Awards. Hanaoka's subsequent releases included the single "Futari/Restart" in March 2019, approximately three years after her previous work.
