Nina Nesbitt

Born on 11 July 1994 in Livingston, West Lothian, Scottish indie-pop singer-songwriter Nina Lindberg Nesbitt, known professionally as Nina Nesbitt, began her musical trajectory playing part-acoustic folk before expanding her palette. She attended high school in a suburb of Edinburgh and cut her teeth posting cover songs to YouTube before a chance meeting with Ed Sheeran in 2011 gave her the break she needed; a support slot on his European tour. She entered into a relationship with the UK superstar and even made a cameo appearance in his "Drunk" video in 2012. Her debut Live Take EP was released in 2011 and its follow-up, The Apple Tree in 2012; she signed to Island Records that year. Another two EPs followed, Stay Out–which was released in 2013 and spawned a signature tune in "Stay Out" (number 21)–and Way in the World (also released in 2013) but it was with the release of her debut album Peroxide in 2014 that she was able to properly establish her voice. Peroxide entered the UK Album Charts at number 1 in Scotland and 11 in the rest of the UK, sealing her fate. She took two years out of the spotlight following the album's success and re-emerged in 2016 with a new EP, Modern Love, and a new haircut. Another five-track EP, Life in Colour, followed, along with a signing to indie label Cooking Vinyl. Her second album, The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change, arrived in 2019, showcasing a shinier pop-led sound. Released in 2022, her third full-length effort was named after the Swedish word for love, Älskar (her mother, Caty, is Swedish) and yielded a number of singles, including "Pressure Makes Diamonds." In September 2024, she released her fourth album Mountain Music via her own label, Apple Tree Records. The LP yielded several singles, including "Pages," "On the Run," and "Anger."
