Pascal Rinaldi

French-speaking author, composer and performer Pascal Rinaldi was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, on June 21, 1961. The son of a tenor singer, he studied literature and worked in a bookshop when, at the age of sixteen, he won his first literary prize, followed in 1978 by a first prize at the Concours de la chanson française in Montreux. His first chanson à textes album, Squatter de Cour, was released in 1987, and paved the way for Sékilom (1990), Retour à l'Innocence (with Buster Kit, 1992), Gémo (1995) and Ubu Partout (1998). His repertoire grew, as did the number of concerts he performed, alongside compositions for theater and collaborations with Thierry Romanens, L'Os Clodos and Yves Zbaeren alias Yves Z. A multi-instrumentalist on guitar, keyboards and percussion, Pascal Rinaldi composes and produces his own records. His collaboration with the Disques Office label, which began in 2000 with Le Diable par la Queue, continued with L'Inconsolable Besoin de Consolation (2002) and the double album Lifting (2005). In 2007, he and Denis Alber founded the Compagnie de l'Ovale to produce theatrical and musical shows such as La Grande Gynandre, which was recorded and released in 2016. In addition to his many stage productions, Pascal Rinaldi also records the albums Au-Delà de Cette Limite (2008), Passé le Zénith (2011) and Traces (2013), featuring covers of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, John Lennon, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Stevie Wonder, America, Leonard Cohen and Procol Harum. This is followed by Sur un Fil (2018), Portraits de Femmes en Miettes (2020) and the titles "Regarde mon enfant " (2021) and "La Femme dévoilée " (2023).
