Pière Senécal

Born Pierre Sénécal in Montreal, Canada, on December 1, 1942, Pière Senécal is a Quebec pop singer. He took singing lessons as a child, then won an amateur contest at the La Casa Loma cabaret in Montreal. He got his first job there at the age of 14, while hosting the radio show Pière Senécal et ses chansons every Sunday. That same year, he recorded his first single, " Trop jeune ", which became a hit on Quebec radio. In 1960 and 1961, he sang on the Radio-Canada television program Club des Autographes . In 1964 and 1965, he wrote several hits for other artists, including " Avant de me dire adieu " for the group Les Classels and " Loin dans ma campagne " for Donald Lautrec. He also became a radio host in the mid-1960s for CHRS, then for CJMS, CKVL and CKAC until 1977. In 1966, Pière Senécal released the album Un Coin de ciel bleu, featuring the title track, as well as the songs " Jolie Milady ", " Les Yeux d'un ange " and " Reviens-moi mon amour ", which reached the top of the Quebec radio charts. In 1972, he gave up his solo career to devote himself to his family, and became a backing singer for artists ranging from Tino Rossi to Céline Dion. In 2002, he gave up his artist name to perform with his birth name, Pierre Sénécal, and released the opus Pierre Sénécal Chante Eddy Marney . In 2019, he will take part in the Idols Tour in Quebec with other artists from the 1960s and 1970s.
