Raphaël Elig has had several musical lives. His background was in classical music, but in the 1980s he became a whimsical, irreverent troublemaker, promoting masturbation with "J'me fais du bien" , set to a synth pop background. He disappeared after a handful of other titles. He then devoted himself to serious studies of the relationship between image and sound, and by extension became a director and composer. In 2013, Raphaël Elig released the soundtrack to the film Rue Mandar.
