Raptile is the stage name of German-Ethiopian MC and producer Addis Mussa, who also performs under the moniker Addis. Born in Munich on September 14, 1976, he began his music career as a freestyle rapper, and soon enough, he was sharing the stage with more established hip-hop acts such as The Pharcyde and Absolute Beginners during their Munich concerts. Following a nationwide tour with David P. and Samy Deluxe in 2000, Raptile signed with the BMG subsidiary Subword and released his studio debut Da Basilisk's Eye in 2001. Despite the album's poor commercial performance, he would get a second shot at stardom in 2004 when his single "Make Y'All Bounce," recorded with American rapper Xzibit, entered the German charts at Number 24. That same year, Raptile had his breakthrough with the star-studded album Classic Material, which cracked the German Top 10 in the first week of its release. Mozez, his third full-length, appeared in 2005 and was followed by the Trey Songz collaboration "Missin' Ur Kisses" a year later. In addition to his solo work, Raptile is also the frontman of the hip-hop collective Follow Your Instinct, formed in 2010.
