Rose Villain

Rose Villain, born Rosa Luini on July 20, 1989, in Milan, Italy is an Italian singer-songwriter recognized for her extensive collaborations with prominent rap artists. Her passion for music blossomed early on, leading her to relocate to Los Angeles at 18 to pursue studies at the Musicians Institute of Hollywood, focusing on rock music. During her time in LA, she adopted the stage name Rose Villain, following her involvement in a punk rock band named The Villains and in 2016, she became the first female artist to sign with the rap label Machete Empire Records. Her official debut came with the singles "Get the Fuck Out of My Pool" and "Geisha," which garnered significant attention. Subsequently, Republic Records took notice of her rising profile and welcomed Villain to their roster in 2018, marking her as the first Italian artist to join the Universal Music Group imprint. However, her tenure with the label proved brief, as she opted for independence, self-releasing singles like "Sneakers" and "It's Snowing, Motherfucker" in 2019. In 2020, she secured a record deal with Arista and unveiled "Bundy," her first Italian-language single, collaborating with Guè Pequeno on "Chico," during the same year, which soared to number 5 on the Italian charts. In December 2021, Villain and Guè Pequeno joined forces again for the track "Piango sulla Lambo," reaching number 3 on the charts. On May 13, 2022, she released "Michelle Pfeifer," featuring Italian rapper Tony Effe, earning platinum status. Her debut album, Radio Gotham, arrived on January 20, 2023, peaking at number 5 on the FIMI Album charts and her collaboration on Achille Lauro's single "Fragole," a few months later, achieved triple platinum status after hitting number 7 on the FIMI official singles chart. She inked a deal with Warner Music in June that year, shortly before the track "Fantasmi" attained platinum certification, earning the album a TIM Music Award. On October 7, 2023, her debut single through Warner Music Italy, "Io, me e altri guai," featuring a sample of "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell, emerged, receiving Gold certification in January the following year, marking her first solo single to achieve this. Villain appeared at the Sanremo Music Festival 2024 with the top 10 song "Click Boom!" from her second studio album, Radio Sakura, which was released on March 8, 2024.
