Formed in 2013 in Copenhagen, Scarlet Pleasure is a Danish trio whose songs combine elements of R&B and mainstream pop. Vocalist Emil Goll, drummer Joachim Dencker, and bassist Alexander Malon met as classmates in eight grade and spent years fine-tuning their band's sound. They made their national debut as Scarlet Pleasure with the single "Windy" in 2014. A hit on the Danish charts, "Windy" peaked at Number 26 and appeared on the group's debut EP, Mirage, which arrived that same year and climbed to Number 6. Two years later, "Windy" was included on Scarlet Pleasure's first full-length debut, Youth is Wasted on the Young, which also contained "Heat" — a platinum-selling single that peaked at Number 14 — and the gold-certified "Wanna Know." Released in 2017, the Limbo EP increased the band's popularity even further, thanks to the Number 4 single "Deja Vu" and the Number 3 hit "Limbo." The EP itself charted at Number 2, followed later that year by Lagune. Scarlet Pleasure scored another Top 10 single with the 2019 hit "What a Life," an anti-fascist song inspired by the Italian classic "Bella Ciao." Although released as a non-album track, the song was later included as a bonus selection on the band's second full-length album, Garden, which appeared in 2020.
