Formed in Liverpool, England in 2014, the Night Café was an indie rock band founded by Sean Martin (vocals/guitar), Arran O’Connell Whittle (bass), Josh Higgins (guitar), and Carl Dillon (drums). Naming themselves after the Vincent Van Gogh painting Le Café de Nuit, the members formed the band while they were still attending secondary school. After the release of the singles “Growing Up” and “Addicted,” the quartet released their debut EP, Get Away From the Feeling, in 2017. They followed that release with their second EP, Bunkbed, in 2018. In 2019, the Night Café released their debut album, 0151, which climbed to number 84 on the UK albums chart. With a growing audience, the group returned in 2021 with the For Better Days EP. Lead singer and guitarist Sean Martin died from an undisclosed illness on November 6, 2023, at the age of 26.
