Scottish rock band The Snuts formed in Whitburn, West Lothian in 2015 and comprised schoolmates, Jack Cochrane (singer and guitarist), Jordan Mackay (drummer), Joe McGillveray (guitarist), and Callum Wilson (bassist). Influenced by punk-infused bands like The Libertines and Arctic Monkeys, their initial online breakthrough came with the debut single "Glasgow." Following the 2017 EP The Matador, they introduced their first commercial single, "Seasons," in 2018, earning praise for its vibrant energy and classicist approach to British indie rock. The band signed with Parlophone and achieved their first charting single with "Maybe California" in 2019. Their significant breakthrough occurred in 2020, with three top 40 hits in their home country, including the number 2 hit "Elephants" and the chart-topping "Always." This success propelled their 2020 EP Mixtape to Number 1 in Scotland and number 14 in the UK. In 2021, they repeated this feat with debut LP, W.L. featuring the earlier hit singles along with eleven additional tracks. In July 2021, The Snuts announced the completion of their second album, preceded by lead single "Burn the Empire," released in November 2021. Throughout 2022, several other singles emerged, including a collaboration with Rachel Chinouriri titled "End of the Road." The album, Burn the Empire was announced in June 2022 and released on October 7, peaking at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart and once again claiming the top spot in Scotland. Having established their own label, The Snuts unveiled their first independent single, “Gloria”, in May 2023, followed by "Dreams," "NPC" and “Deep Diving” later in the year, and by their third studio album Millennials in February 2024, which was issued via Happy Artist Records.
