Yoo Chae-yeong (born Kim Soo-jin, September 22, 1973 in Anyang) was a South Korean singer, actress, and radio host. She began her career at 17 as part of the group Punsudeul in 1989. In 1994, under the stage name Yoo Chae-yeong, she gained recognition as a member of the K-pop group Cool, famously sporting a shaved head—an unconventional look for female celebrities at the time. After leaving Cool in 1995, she formed the duo US before launching a solo career, with her 1999 hit "Emotion" helping popularize techno music in South Korea. Yoo also pursued acting, appearing in supporting roles in films like Sex Is Zero (2002) and its sequel, while showcasing her humor and wit as a radio host on Good Weekend. In 2009, she returned to music with the EP Another Decade. Diagnosed with gastric cancer in 2013, Yoo passed away on July 24, 2014, at the age of 40.
