An Indian solo artist, Bollywood playback singer, and reality TV regular, Asees Kaur was born on September 26, 1988, in Panipat, Haryana. She began singing Gurbani hymns as a child and made her public debut alongside Deedar Kaur on the 2011 duet "Daata Oh Na Mangiye." Three years later, Tamanchey marked her Bollywood debut, with film projects like Ishqedarriyaan, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, and ABCD 2 all appearing in 2015. One year later, her popular song "Bolna" was released as the second single from the Kapoor & Sons soundtrack, which earned Asees Kaur a Mirchi Music Award for "Best Upcoming Female Vocalist of the Year." More Bollywood projects followed in 2018, with Kaur singing on Loveyatri, High Jack, Kedarnath, and nearly a half-dozen additional soundtracks. "Gal Karke" was released in 2019 and became one of her signature songs, topping the charts in India and breathing new life into her career. One year later, she earned another hit with "Jaan Ban Gaye," a duet with the Indian composer Vishal Mishra that appeared in the film Khuda Haafiz. She enjoyed a concurrent hit with "Hui Malang," which was included in the movie Malang and won Kaur the Filmfare Award for "Best Female Playback Singer" in 2021.
