Crowder

Crowder is both the surname and stage name of David Wallace Crowder, a GMA Dove Award-winning contemporary Christian singer whose career includes number 1 hits like 2014's "Come as You Are," 2017's "All My Hope," and 2021's "Good God Almighty." Born in Texarkana, Texas, on November 29, 1971, he launched his music career in 1996 as the frontman of the Grammy-nominated worship group David Crowder Band. The band released six studio albums during its time together, with David Crowder Band's final release — 2012's Give Us Rest — peaking at number 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart and number 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200. The group split up that same year, with the bulk of its members forming a new band called The Digital Age. Meanwhile, David Crowder began releasing music under his surname, kicking off his solo career with 2014's gold-certified Neon Steeple. "I Am," the record's lead single, climbed to number 2 on the Christian Airplay chart, while the Grammy-nominated follow-up single "Come as You Are" topped the same chart several months later. American Prodigal appeared in 2016, featuring a diverse sound that made room for rock, roots, and traditional worship music. Like its predecessor, American Prodigal peaked at number 1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart. I Know a Ghost followed in 2018, with the chart-topping Milk & Honey arriving during the summer of 2021. The holiday album Milk & Cookies: A Merry Crowder Christmas followed in 2022 and barely cracked the Top 30, landing at number 29. However, his 2024 studio album The Exile once again hit the top of the Top Christian Albums chart.
