G.G. Anderson

G. G. Anderson (born December 4, 1949 in Eschwege) is a pop singer, composer and music producer from Germany. Born Gerd Grabowski, the artist can now look back on a 60-year career in show business. In his early years, G. G. Anderson was a member of various bands. He made his first appearances in 1964 with The Rackets. From 1973, he tried his hand as a solo artist. He initially performed under the name Alexander Marco. He later changed his stage name to Tony Bell. His former backing band later became the folk music duo Wildecker Herzbuben. Since 1980, pop fans have known him as G. G. Anderson. One year later, his single "Mama Lorraine" entered the German charts at number 10. The pop singer celebrated his biggest hit in 1985 with the single "Sommernacht in Rom". The song spent 17 weeks in the German charts and reached number 25. In Austria, the song even climbed to number 16. A year later, G. G. Anderson scored another hit in Germany with "Mädchen, Mädchen", which reached number 34. In 1988, the pop singer reached 4th place in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Hättest Du heut' Zeit für mich?". A year later, he scored a minor summer hit with "Sommer, Sonne, Cabrio". After that, G. G. Anderson disappeared a little from the public eye. In his long career, the artist has composed over 1,000 songs for other artists, including Roland Kaiser, Boney M., Mireille Mathieu, Die Amigos, Andrea Jürgens, Andy Borg, Engelbert, Heino, Bernhard Brink, Rex Gildo, Jürgen Drews, Karel Gott, Mary Roos, Wildecker Herzbuben and Wolfgang Petry. At the beginning of the 2000s and with his move to Koch Music, the pop singer went solo again. In 2000, he returned to the German charts after 14 years with the album Nein heißt ja (No means yes ) and is still represented there today with every new release. In 2018, his album Summerlove reached number 5 in the German Top 10. His 29th studio album, Sieben Leben, reached number 18 in Germany in 2024 and climbed into the Austrian Top 10 at number 8.
