J.D. Simo

Born in Chicago in 1985, guitarist J.D. Simo first came to prominence as a member of The Don Kelley Band between 2007 and 2012, before pursuing a career under his own name. Renowned for his raw, precise playing, he has collaborated with artists such as Jack White, Tommy Emmanuel, Joe Bonamassa, Chris Isaac and Samantha Fish, among others. Based in Nashville, in 2011 he formed the group Simo, a psychedelic blues trio with whom he recorded three albums until 2017. After recording two self-released solo albums in the early 2000s, Introducting J.D. Simo Burnin' Live and One Night Stand, he returned to his solo career in 2019 with Off at 11, followed by JD Simo (2020), Dr. Awesome's Fully Vaccinated Space Jazz Orchestra, Vol. 1 (2021) and Mind Control (2021). A prolific guitarist, he records from his studio at a regular rate, as evidenced by the close release of Mind Control (2021), his third release of the year. Back in 2023 with Songs from the House of Grease, he joins Luther Dickinson's band, whom he invites on his own album Do the Rum! (2024).
