MohBad

Rapper, singer, and songwriter MohBad was born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba on June 8, 1996, in Lagos Nigeria. He is best known for his singles “Ponmo” (featuring Naira Marley and Lil Kesh), “Feel Good,” “Peace,” and “Ask About Me.” His music career began in 2019 with the release of singles such as “BB2 Poverty,” “Mi O Foh,” “Owoale” (featuring Lil Frosh and C Blvck), “Imole,” and “Balan Zia Gar.” MohBad began to gain recognition in 2020 when his single “Ponmo” (featuring Naira Marley and Lil Kesh) became a viral hit. The song was released on the digital-only eight song Light EP that same year. In 2021, MohBad received five nominations for The Beatz Awards, winning two awards: Producer of the Year (with Rexxie) and Mixing and Mastering Engineer of the Year (with Timi J) That same year, he was listed on Audiosmack’s Top 21 Afrobeat Artists list. However, in February 2022, MohBad and five others were arrested for possession of illegal substances by the NDLEA (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) and were later released. This didn’t hurt his popularity, and he released several singles in 2022 including the hit “Peace” (number 21). Towards the end of 2022, MohBad left his label, Marlian Records, and accused his manager - the label’s owner, Naira Marley - of assault. The split was acrimonious, but MohBad rebounded with a new manager and his own label, Imolenization. His first release on the label was the Blessed EP (2023) which featured the hit single “Ask About Me” (number 15). Mohbad died under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. Initially, they thought it was from an infection that he was being treated for, but the case was reopened, and the body was exhumed just days later.
