Controversial German rapper Schwesta Ewa was born on July 16, 1984 in Koszalin, Poland under the name Ewa Malanda, formerly Ewa Müller. She took her first steps as a rapper in 2012 with a guest spot on "Applause" by Xatar and on "Frauen" by Celo & Abdi, before dropping her first mixtape Reality that October. Her debut album Kurwa followed in 2015 and entered the German album charts at number 11, selling over 20,000 copies. Schwesta Ewa was provisionally arrested by a special task force (SEK) unit in Oeventrop, where she was alleged to have forced five female fans into prostitution. She was formally charged and found guilty of 35 counts of bodily harm, tax violations, and the abuse of minors, and was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in 2017. She was cleared of pimping and human trafficking, on the grounds that the girls had become prostitutes of their own free will. Her second album Aywa was released in 2018 and she began her prison sentence the following year, issuing her third album Aaliyah while serving her sentence and after having changed her name to Malanda. In 2021, she was reportedly released from prison early for good behaviour. In 2022, Schwesta Ewa released a song in collaboration with rapper Xatar called "Mehr Eie," which put the pair at number 5 in the German single trend charts. A string of further singles followed in 2022, including "Fettsack Flow" with Ehrenmannrius.
