Music runs in the family for Sid Sriram: his mother teaches carnatic music teacher and nourished his talent from a young age. Sid Sriram was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India on May 19, 1990 and moved to California with his parents aged one. He grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Mission San Jose High School, before enrolling at Berklee College of Music in 2008 where he graduated in music production and engineering. His debut and breakthrough release as a playback singer arrived in 2013, singing on "Adiye" for the Kadal soundtrack composed by his supporter A. R. Rahman, and two years later he scooped the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for his rendition of "Ennodu Nee Irunthaal," which was featured on the I soundtrack. He went on to build a solid career as a playback singer – often melding carnatic music with R&B – adding his voice to a number of Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu films over the years, including A. R. Rahman's 99 Songs and D. Imman's Teddy in 2021. Sid Sriram's debut release as a producer came in 2019 via the slick, Indian classical-infused contemporary R&B of Entropy, which also incorporates elements of hip-hop and modern pop. In 2021, Sid Sriram lent his voice to the song "Dooram Karigina" from the film Jetty, joining forces with Karthik Kodakandla for the duet.
