Tasha Layton (October 27, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter who performs in the contemporary Christian music genre. Originally from Pauline, South Carolina, she was raised Southern Baptist but had a spiritual crisis during her early adulthood, something that led her to change her major from music to religion. Eventually, she returned to Christianism and moved to Los Angeles, where she got a Master of Divinity degree from The King’s Seminary. In 2010, she briefly participated in the ninth season of American Idol but was sent home after the third round of Hollywood week. That same year, Tasha Layton landed a gig as a background singer for Katy Perry and accompanied the singer on tour and in the studio for four years. After moving to Nashville to try her luck as a solo artist, she signed to BEC Recordings in 2018 and released her debut single "I Belong to You." Later that year, she scored her first charting single with "Love Lifting Me," which cracked the Top 25 of Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart. She continued to advance in her career with her debut EP Love Running Wild (2019) and Into the Sea (2020), whose lead single "Into the Sea (It's Gonna Be OK)" became a Top 10 hit on both the Hot Christian Songs and Christian Digital Downloads chart. Preceded by the number 1 hit single "Look What You’ve Done," an EP of the same name arrived in 2021 and was closely followed by her first holiday album, This Is Christmas. "How Far," her first single of 2022, peaked at number 5 on the Hot Christian Songs chart and reached number 2 on the Christian Airplay chart. Over the next few years, Tasha Layton issued the singles "Never" (2023) and "Worship Through It" (2024), a collaborative single featuring Chris Brown that peaked at number 35 on Billboard's Top 50 Radio Christian Songs chart.
