VDA

Founded in 2012 in Daloa, Côte d'Ivoire, the group VDA, short for La Voix Des Anges, brings together Jim VDA (Diezon Nimcemon Vianney Bah) and Pitch VDA (Koré Samuel Kouko). While both officiate in church as backing singers, the desire to deepen their musical passion is born and starts at the heart of popular events, in baptisms, bars, maquis or weddings. A first EP saw the light of day in 2014, L'humanité est menacée, enabling the group through four tracks to train for recording. After performing Ivorian chanson classics, including those by Dezy Champion, meeting the latter proved decisive and fueled the desire to compose. Helped into the Abidjan music scene by Champion, VDA tested their first demos and released a debut album in 2017, La main de Dieu. When the two musicians learned of Dezy Champion's death, they instinctively wanted to produce a tribute song to their mentor. " Hommage à Dezy Champion" (2018) appeals to the general public and attracts millions of listeners, making VDA one of the Ivorian bands to watch. Launched, the zouglou-affiliated duo continues with live performances, followed by a second album entitled Notre exploit, which from 2020 establishes VDA as one of Côte d'Ivoire's leading zouglou groups.
