Monk, whose real name is Sascha Witte, has been making a name for himself since the mid-2010s, primarily as part of the five-piece hip-hop clique BHZ. Together with Longus Mongus, BigPat, Dead Dawg and Ion Miles, the Berliners stand for a cross-border sound in which boom bap and old-school beats are just as prominent as trend-conscious trap, cloud rap and drill elements. With the premiere EP Monk , named after himself, Sascha Witte also drew attention to himself solo in 2018 - making him the first band member to take this step. Tracks such as "Vertrauen" show the MC from an unusually melancholy side. In addition to the collabo album Game Over, which Monk released together with Ion Miles in 2019, Kiezromantik (2020) was also released - the biggest success of the entire BHZ crew to date, reaching number 7 on the German charts with the album. In the same year, Sascha Witte released his debut album Hellwach , which also made it into the top 10 of the album charts. in 2021, he and the other BHZ MCs released their fourth LP Halb:vier, with Monk continuing to collaborate with artists from other cities, such as the Hamburg rapper Ansu, alongside whom the single "Lass los" (2021) was produced. Further successful songs with other artists followed, including "Runnin" (2022, together with BHZ, Longus Mongus, Ion Miles, Dead Dawg, Big Pat), "Crash Dummy" (2023, together with BHZ, Ion Miles) and "Nicht nachmachen!!!" (2023, together with Ski Aggu, Longus Mongus). Monk's second studio album, Küss Herz, is released in early December 2024.
