Swedish pop star Uno Svenningsson was born July 1, 1959. The lead singer of the intermittently active band Freda began his solo career with the 1994 album Uno, which spun off the top 40 single “Tro på varann”, a duet with Eva Dahlgren. He put out two more album in the 90s, but did not enjoy another charting song until “Vågorna”, a track from his 2001 album I det osynliga that was eventually used in an advertising campaign for beer. He returned to the pop charts in 2007 when he competed in Melodifestivalen, a preliminary for the Eurovision Song Contest, with Irma Schultz Keller. Their duet, “God morgon”, didn’t make it to the finals, but did give him a number 18 hit, the biggest chart success of his solo career. Teaming with fellow over 40 Swedish pop stars Tommy Nilsson and Patrick Isaksson, he attempted the Melodifestivalen again in 2016. He competed on the 2017 season of Så mycket bättre, a show where a number of famous singers perform cover versions of each other’s songs. In 2020 he released his first single in four years, “När natten lindar sig runt mig”.
